The Lion and the Subjects
The Lion once was considering a way to maximize his
popularity amongst all his subjects in the animal kingdom. He decided he’d
invite all the other animals, from insect to beast for a feast and that way the
animals will marvel at the Lion’s royal banquet, as well as giving respect to
the king for inviting them individually. At the banquet, while the animals were
sitting and eating their foods the Lion was walking around to give his Subjects
the opportunity to praise him for the outstanding meal they were enjoying. When
he passed the section with the insects and the domestic animals, they were simply
awed at the delicacies that were before them and praised the Lion for making
such a grand feast, since they have never had their favorite food in front of
them prepared to be consumed. The Lion really felt his popularity grow.
However, when he passed by the area with the wild beasts he overheard the snake
hiss to his friends, “All this food is great and the king is so lucky to have
this at his fingertips, but if we all joined forces together, we could
overthrow the king and take all these delicacies for ourselves and have an
endless supply of food.” As soon as the Lion heard this, he became furious, and
before the wild beasts had a chance to strategically plan their attack, the Lion
chased all the beasts out of his kingdom.
Moral of the story:
Doing nice things for other people gains favor in their
eyes.
Show appreciation when someone else does something good for
you.
