The Rhino and The Pride

Photo of Elephant Family Reunion on African Safari

There was a family of Rhinos, except the mother and father had long wandered off, and the children had not seen them in some time. All the same, there were plenty of green leaves and blue water that the children wanted for nothing. The eldest boy began to sprout his horns, and was the envy of his entire crash. All of his brothers and sisters would gather around him, day after day, to admire how long his horns were getting. He would prance around all day, showing off his horns to the females in the crash, and chase away birds taking cool water in nearby puddles, never once stopping to admire any of the beauty that surrounded him. Soon, one by one, the other Rhinos too started to sprout horns. They admired and complimented each other on their new symbols of maturity, all except the eldest, who couldn't help but to feel the other horns weren't nearly as developed and regal as his own. He went along his business, wandering off by himself to chase birds and look for new female Rhinos to impress, until one day he turned to find himself alone... in the Kenyan Savannah... surrounded by a pride.

Moral: Pride comes before the fall.
